Who we are

This website, silknode.in, is run by Silknode Technologies Private Limited (CIN U62011TZ2025PTC036376), registered office Villa No. B+15, Phase I, Parsn Palm Legend, Ondipudur, Trichy Road, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu 641016, India. We work from Gangtok, Sikkim.

This policy explains what personal data the website collects, why, who it is shared with and the choices you have. It is written with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 in mind and, for visitors from the EU and UK, the GDPR. For any question about it, email info@silknode.in.

What we collect and why

When you contact us

The contact form asks for your name, email address, an optional subject and your message. We use them only to reply to you and to discuss the work you ask about. The form is delivered to our inbox by email; the website does not keep its own copy of form entries. If you email, call or message us on WhatsApp instead, we receive whatever you choose to send.

Blog comments

If you comment on a blog post, we collect the name, email address and website you enter, your comment, and your IP address and browser details (to help detect spam). Your name and comment are shown publicly. An anonymised string created from your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service (run by Automattic) to show your profile picture if you have one.

Website analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, through Google’s Site Kit plugin, to understand which pages are read and how visitors find us. Google collects information such as the pages you visit, your approximate location, your device and browser, and the site that referred you, and uses cookies to do so. Google processes this data on our behalf; see Google’s privacy policy.

New-visit notifications

When a new visit to the website starts, the site sends us a short notification on Telegram so we know someone is looking. It contains your IP address, browser, time zone, the page you landed on, the website that referred you and the time. A cookie named tva_id marks a visit for 30 minutes so you are not reported more than once per visit. Logged-in users are not reported. The notification is delivered through Telegram’s servers and stays in our Telegram chat.

Chat button

The chat button in the corner of each page opens WhatsApp or another contact channel you choose. If you use WhatsApp, your conversation is handled by WhatsApp (Meta) under its own privacy policy. The button stores small settings in your browser’s local storage, for example to remember that you closed it.

Server logs

Like most websites, our web server records each request — including IP address, browser and the page requested — in log files used for security and troubleshooting.

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. The website still works without them.

Who we share data with

We do not sell personal data or share it for advertising. We use service providers to run the website and our communications: our hosting provider, our email provider, Google (analytics), Telegram (visit notifications), Automattic (Gravatar) and, if you use it, WhatsApp. Some of these providers process data outside India. We may also disclose data where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries and emails for as long as we need them to deal with your request and any work that follows, and for as long as accounting or legal obligations require. Approved comments stay until the post or comment is removed. Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account.

Your rights

You can ask us for a summary of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct, complete, update or erase it, and withdraw any consent you have given. Under India’s DPDP Act you can also nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf. If you are in the EU or UK, you can additionally object to or restrict our use of your data and ask for a copy in a portable format. To do any of this, email info@silknode.in.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India or, in the EU or UK, to your local data protection authority.

Security

The website is served over HTTPS and its software is kept up to date. Access to messages and enquiries is limited to the people who need it.

Children

This website is for businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the website handles personal data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
